Our Story
25 years ago Mary Kathleen Arthur noticed that something was missing from the landscaping trade. There was no shortage of beautifully manicured, green yards…block after block of simple, predictable, green. Sure, there was the occasional, deer-eaten pansy, or barren brown lantana covered with spider mites. Flowers can be tricky business, especially here in the south. That doesn’t mean you have to do without.
Sadly, color was not a focus. The pallets were most often bland and uninteresting; lacking contrast, variety, and focal points. Finding that no local landscape company specializes in color for outdoor pots and gardens, Mary Kate made it her mission to fill the gap; turning basic lawns into lush, flowering spaces, perfect for lingering and relaxing. Mary Kate started to transform lawns all over the lowcounty. They began to bloom, year-round, and most for the first time.
Each yard is unique and special, as is the client who owns it. Some clients love red, others love purple. Some prefer varying shades of green. Flower preferences range from pansies to petunias, and all alliterations in between. Customizing her services to each client’s tastes and goals, Mary Kate creates the perfect plan. Taking into account preferences, architecture, landscape, views, shade, sun, pests, and soil conditions; all are important pieces to ensuring a stunning outcome. Mary Kate’s knowledge, experience, reliability, and creativity set her apart from the rest of the landscaping field.
Mary Kate’s Classic Gardening offers several levels of service based on each client’s preference.
